International Meisner Training with James Price
Level 1 & 2 · March 15–29, 2026 · English · Limited Capacity
For the first time in Germany, James Price—founding director of The Acting Studio – New York and a direct first-generation protégé of Sanford Meisner—teaches his celebrated Meisner Masterclass in Hamburg.
Across two intensive weeks, participants work through the complete progression of the Meisner Technique, building truthful listening, spontaneous impulse, emotional availability, and genuine connection in performance. This is a rare opportunity to experience the Meisner approach in its original lineage—clear, rigorous, and actor-centered.
From all 32 participants, 10 actors will be selected for a scholarship at The Acting Studio – New York, offering the chance to continue Meisner training in NYC under James Price’s guidance.
Structure & Schedule
Level 1 · March 15–21, 2026 (Sun–Fri)
Foundations: truthful listening, impulse work, behavioral awareness, presence in the moment.
Level 2 · March 22–28, 2026 (Sun–Fri)

Morning Group: 9:30–13:30
Afternoon Group: 14:30–18:30
Both levels form one comprehensive training package. Booking individual weeks is not possible.
Who It’s For
Actors and creative individuals of all experience levels with basic English communication skills. The work requires openness, commitment, and the courage to engage truthfully with oneself and others.
Why the Meisner Technique Matters
Developed in New York, the Meisner Technique emphasizes authentic human connection, emotional responsiveness, and working from impulse rather than intellect—prioritizing behavior over ideas. Actors such as Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, and Jeff Bridges credit it as foundational to their integrity and spontaneity.
Meisner-trained actors are valued for:
presence under pressure
listening that affects behavior
immediacy of emotional availability
truthful responses in unexpected moments

A Note on the Training Experience
This Masterclass is not designed as a showcase or a short inspirational format.
It is a focused, process-oriented training that invites participants to slow down, listen more precisely, and work from genuine impulse rather than performance strategies.
The structure follows the original Meisner progression and allows time not only for technical development, but also for integration. The free Saturdays are intentionally placed to support reflection, rest, and the nervous system’s ability to absorb the work.
Participants are encouraged to arrive with curiosity rather than expectation, and with a willingness to engage deeply with repetition, relationship, and moment-to-moment truth. The emphasis lies on long-term artistic growth rather than quick results.
While the work can be emotionally engaging, it is held in a clear, respectful, and supportive environment. Individual differences, boundaries, and artistic paths are honored throughout the process.
This training is particularly valuable for actors who wish to strengthen their presence, responsiveness, and trust in their own impulses — qualities that remain essential across stage, film, and contemporary rehearsal practices.
