Demidov Acting Retreat – September 2026

The Demidov Acting Technique Retreat is unique anywhere in the world, created as a space to bring together actors from all corners of the world who are committed to diving more deeply into the technique that has been called the acting pedagogy of the future.

Following two successful annual Retreats in January in the beautiful mountains of Poland, we have decided to move the next Retreat to September, which will take place in 2026 in another beautiful location in the Czech Republic.

The Retreat is an opportunity to escape the distractions and stresses of everyday modern living to allow actors to focus on their artistic development, both individually and as an ensemble, led by two of the very few teachers in the world who are certified to teach the Demidov work. The group will stay and work together in the same extraordinary location, allowing for an intensive deepening of practice and exploration of individual and collective artistry.

Over a five day period, actors will work individually, with partners, and as an ensemble. We will work on the foundations of the technique through the Demidov Etudes, as well as discovering the development and deepening of character and the power of circumstances, through work on scenes from a given play. In addition to the class work sessions, time will be allocated for discussions and sharing of observations about the ongoing process.

There will also be evening sessions offered that are dedicated to exercises that foster a heightened sense of perception, awaken creative instincts, and cultivate a shared sense of community. These sessions will include explorations in voice, movement, and rhythm—practices designed to deepen our connection to ourselves, each other, and the creative process.

Participants will work in two groups, with the opportunity to alternate between them throughout the retreat. The two groups will then come together as one ensemble, uniting the work in a shared creative space in a spirit of mutual exchange and reflection. In true Demidov spirit, we are not concerned with the result, but only with the process.

Organised by Demidov Studio Vienna, in collaboration with two other Demidov studios: Demidov Studio London and Demidov Studio Athens.
Teachers for the Retreat will be Andrei Biziorek, Director of Demidov Studio Vienna and Demidov Studio London, and Vicky Georgiadou, Director of Demidov Studio Athens.

Everyone needs to arrive on the 2nd of September and stay for the whole retreat until 8th of September to be able to join.

Accomodation
“Will there be single rooms?”
No, our Research space only provides shared bedrooms (separated by sex). There are double rooms and rooms for four.

Food
Included will be vegetarian meals by our hosts. If you have any allergies, let us know in advance so we can forward that information to our hosts.

Price
1350 €

This covers tuition, accommodation and food, as well as transportation to and from the Retreat Center to the Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG).

QUESTIONS about TRAVEL
“I will travel by plane to Prague, how do I get to the retreat?”
There will be transport to and from the retreat space to the Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG). Arrivals on the 2nd of September must be latest at 2 pm to catch the bus.

“I am traveling by car to the retreat, what do I need to consider?”
There are free parking spots at the retreat.

“I will arrive by train at the main station in Prague, is there a transport from the main train station in Prague to the research space?”
No, we do not provide travel from the train station in Prague. You will have to get to Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) first.

“How I do get to the airport on the 8th of September?”
A transport to Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) will be provided on the morning of the 8th of September at 9:30am. Take into consideration, that the journey to the airport will take roughly 2,5h and there could be holdups so plan your flight departure accordingly. We will not reimburse anyone due to flights missed on behalf of the bus transportation company, the weather or any other catastrophies that might lead to a delay and therefore you missing your flight.

„Are there alternative ways to the research space?“
Yes, you can take a train to České Budějovice –  then you either go from České Budějovice Central Bus Station with a regional bus 320127 (GW BUS) to Komařice – or you can take a cab.
Keep in mind: Individual travel costs are not covered in the fee and need to be covered by the participant.
