Beschreibung:
Expression is a vital part of communication. The body speaks and reveals our thoughts, impulses and actions. We listen, move and feel in 3-dimensions. We are “moved” to move. We do this instinctively throughout our lives, but as actors we need to be mutable enough to express the movement of others. Transformation. And through imagination and the use of our senses, ‘play ‘ different scenarios, so that the given circumstances of plays and scenes are accurately inhabited.
These three sessions will introduce the actors to the fundamental principles and techniques of movement:
Breath, Spine, Space, and the Gravity Swing and Physical Listening.
The afternoon session actors will explore intention and action and interpretation through the use of gesture and space and movement qualities. This will involve partner work, ensemble and scenario work. On the third day, we will share a short piece of our work to explore movement into action and story- working with some text.
This is a unique opportunity to encounter learning how to “speak” with your body, action and space to explore the inherent expression in your own body and the stories we can tell.

Info:
Shona has taught Movement and held leadership posts at all the major Drama Schools- including RADA and Drama Centre London where she was also Head of Acting. She was Head of Movement and visiting artist at The Stratford Festival Theatre in Canada for 13 years- where she returns in January 2027.
She is also an actor, movement director and writer as well as a Movement specialist. Her movement studies were in Ballet (RAD), Jacques Lecoq in Paris for two years, and a long apprenticeship with Trish Arnold over 13 years (who trained with Siguurd Leder- part of the Kurt Jooss Ballet, and Jooss Leder method of theatre dance).
She is a specialist in mask teaching and chorus work, animal study into character, and Pure Movement.
She has worked extensively in classical and experimental theatre, both as an actor and as a movement specialist and coached many actors. Her approach to movement is that it a vital part of acting, but needs to come to the actor organically. To do this the body needs to be trained and responsive to impulses and thoughts and sensations.
